Central Iraq is so dangerous that Danish and Norwegian officials studying the threat level in the region in March remained in the northern provinces of the country.
Nonetheless, Denmark's Immigration Service has rejected asylum requests from 119 Iraqis from central areas of Iraq who are now waiting to be forcibly repatriated.
"It would be too much of a security operation to travel into the central regions of Iraq. As a result, we decided we could have our questions answered by visiting the two northern provinces and get information on central and southern Iraq from other organisations," says Immigration Service Documentation Head Frank Johansen.
